I drove for my first time in US... it's fun but... I lost my way even with the GPS!
Everything went fine when I was driving from the hotel to work. The left-wheeled thing (we're right-wheeled in HK) didn't trouble me at all and parking, which is always my worst part, is easy here. Why it was only my first time to drive here is because it's my other colleague's job to be the driver as she got her license in Canada and she's used to the driving rules here. But she was having her meeting in the hotel instead of the office so it's my turn to drive myself and my other colleague (who doesn't know driving at all) to work.
I was careful enough to input the hotel address in the GPS when I drove back from the company to the hotel... but somehow I didn't rely on it much as I was so confident that I knew the way... yes I knew indeed.... but just that I missed ONE RIGHT TURN!!! And that made me drove all the way to the highway!
Highway is fine... there's always way out, right? But unbelivably the highway was jammed! Finally I spent like almost 30 mins to get my way out and back to the hotel.
And it has become one of the biggest joke of the day at work... sigh...
Actually it'd be alright even if I got lost if I was only driving myself.. but with my colleague besides me I felt so so so sorry to her as I knew she was starving. But all in all, driving is fun here. I will have no doubt to make it as an option (or a must?) to drive here when I travel to US for leisure in the future.
I'm going to try the driving from states to states thing.
